AHAVA
The Culture of Peace Initiative

A world-class performing songwriter, Aliza Hava also serves as Middle East Regional Coordinator for The Culture of Peace Initiative (CPI), a co-operative Peacebuilding Initiative to unite the strengths of existing organizations, projects and peoples in building a Culture of Peace for future generations. CPI serves as a vehicle for bringing to light the previously unseen and unheard Peacebuilders working towards Peace along diverse pathways.

Established in 1983, CPI enables global Peacebuilders to instantly network, share inspiration, discuss ideas and collaborate on projects and events.  Working in partnership with the United Nations, non-governmental organizations, local communities, grassroots organizers, and individuals, CPI unites our voices into a powerful worldwide movement for peace.

International Day of Peace - September 21st

The annual highlight of The Culture of Peace Initiative is The International Day of Peace -  September 21 of each year.   It is a global holiday when individuals, communities, schools, nations and governments highlight efforts to end conflict and promote peace.

Established by U.N. resolution in 1982 which calls for a global cease-fire, "Peace Day" has grown to include millions of people around the world who participate in all kinds of events, large and small. To start planning your event for the 2010 International Day of Peace, please visit www.internationaldayofpeace.org.

Pathways to Peace

'The Culture of Peace Initiative' and 'The International Day of Peace' are facilitated by 'Pathways To Peace' (PTP), an international peacebuilding, educational, and consulting organization with 501c3 status that expands the comprehension and substantive expression of "PEACE" and Peacebuilding practices at all levels. PTP is building a Culture of Peace by uniting and enhancing the strengths of existing organizations and programs along eight paths to Peace, which include governance/law/security, health/relationships, education/media, economics/business, science/technology, religion/spiritual teachings, environment/habit and culture.

The Pathways To Peace principle-in-action is: "Acting in concert, we do make a difference in the quality of our lives, our institutions, our environment and our planetary future. Through cooperation, we manifest the essential spirit that unites us amidst our diverse ways."

Holding Consultative Status with the United Nations (ECOSOC), (DPI), Pathways To Peace was granted official UN Peace Messenger status in 1987.
